Join us in protecting the rights of hospital patients:

  • Volunteer to be a patient rights communicator. Work with your community groups, libraries, places of worship, and other gatherings to share information on this important life-saving law. Resources for sharing information include a fact sheet and powerpoint presentation.

  • Report abuse to the Office of Health Care Quality (OHCQ) at 410-402-8002. OHCQ is located in the Maryland Department of Health. They have been tasked with ensuring compliance by hospitals. If you have not been provided with your rights, or your rights have been violated by the hospital, OHCQ needs to be informed.

  • Help us to monitor compliance with the new law. Our coalition, Marylanders for Patient Rights, is independently monitoring how well hospitals are complying with the new law. If you don’t see Patient Rights posted at your hospital, or don’t receive a copy of Patient Rights, please notify Marylanders for Patient Rights through the Contact page.

  • Contact your local hospital administrator. Hospitals need to know that patients are paying attention to the implementation of the new law protecting patient rights. Be sure to notify your local hospital administrator if the law is not being enforced. Let them know you care about patient rights!
